As revealed on Monday by U.S. Air Force official Troy Meink, “The United States now possesses space-control weapons in orbit capable of defending the joint force against hostile actions by adversaries.”
Speaking at the Air & Space Forces Association’s annual Air, Space & Cyber Conference in National Harbor, Maryland, Meink stated: “Today, we continue to ensure we are prepared to meet the challenges of evolving threats, wherever they may exist.”
China and Russia have urged the U.S. to abandon preparations for space warfare following the confirmed deployment of U.S. weapons in orbit.
“We urge the U.S. side to stop expanding its military capabilities and preparing for war in outer space,” said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun told reporters on Tuesday.
